Does the cabin have a hot tub? +
Yes. A covered hot tub that heats up to 104°F. No kids under 5, and anyone 5 to 17 needs an adult with them.
How many guests does it sleep? +
Six guests across three king beds in three bedrooms.
Can I bring my dog? +
Yes. Fully fenced yard. Dog crates available if you need to crate while you're on the trail. Water bowls and waste bags provided. $75 per stay.
Is it cheaper to book direct? +
Yes. Booking direct at book.pisgahbasecamp.com costs less than booking the same stay on Airbnb or VRBO.
What's your cancellation policy? +
Book direct and you get a full refund if you cancel at least 1 day before arrival. Bookings made on Airbnb or VRBO follow that site's policy.
Is there a minimum stay? +
Two nights minimum. The longest stay is 15 nights.
What's check-in / checkout? +
Check-in after 4:00 PM. Checkout before 11:00 AM. Self check-in with code sent the day of arrival.
Can we check in early? +
Sometimes. It depends on the cleaning schedule that day and isn't guaranteed. Plan on 4:00 PM unless we confirm an earlier time with you.
How close are you to Pisgah and DuPont? +
11 min to DuPont State Forest. 17 min to the Pisgah Ranger Station. 16 min to the Davidson River.
What is there to do nearby? +
Waterfalls, mountain biking, fly fishing, hiking, and scenic drives, most of it within half an hour. Triple Falls is 12 minutes away, Looking Glass Falls 23, and Sliding Rock, a natural water slide, 27. DuPont State Forest is 11 minutes and the Davidson River 16. Are there apple orchards nearby? +
Yes. Jeter Mountain Farm is about 9 miles from the house and takes u-pick reservations. Hendersonville, about 28 minutes away, is apple country, with Sky Top Orchard, Stepp's Hillcrest, Justus Orchard, and Grandad's Apples N' Such. U-pick runs from about August into November depending on the orchard, so check their sites before you go.
Can we go on a horseback trail ride? +
Yes. Pisgah Forest Stables runs guided rides in Pisgah National Forest, April 1 through October 31, Monday through Saturday. Little River Trail Rides in Cedar Mountain rides in DuPont State Forest. Check their sites for times.
Where should we eat? +
Our go-tos are Hawg Wild Smokehouse & Taproom in Pisgah Forest, and Corky's Dawg House and Big Mike's in Brevard. For more picks, tap Ask about the area on any page and tell the assistant what you're in the mood for.
Where's the nearest grocery store? +
Ingles in Brevard or Ingles in Etowah. Each is about 17 minutes away.
How far is the airport? +
Asheville Regional Airport is about 32 minutes away.
What's the gear setup like? +
Dedicated bike and gear storage in the garage with racks and hooks. Wash bikes on the driveway with the bike rack from the garage and the hose on the right side of the garage door. Rod racks and wader drying space.
What if I've never ridden Pisgah before? +
Pisgah trails run harder than their ratings suggest. A blue-rated trail here often rides like a black diamond elsewhere. Start at DuPont to get your legs dialed before heading into Pisgah proper.
Do I need a fishing license? +
Yes. NC fishing license and trout stamp required. Upper Davidson is catch-and-release, single-hook artificial only. Buy at ncwildlife.gov or at Davidson River Outfitters at the Pisgah entrance.
Is there cell service? +
Spotty to nonexistent inside Pisgah and parts of DuPont. Download offline maps and trail data before heading out. The house has high-speed WiFi.
What's in the kitchen? +
Everything you need to cook. Gas stove, full cookware, a Bunn dual-pot drip coffee maker and a Keurig, and a gas grill outside.
What about laundry? +
Full-size washer and dryer on-site. After a few days of Pisgah dirt, you'll use it.
Is firewood provided? +
No. Bring your own or grab a bundle in Brevard on your way in. Watch for county burn bans.
Is there a generator? +
Yes. A full-home backup generator keeps the power on when mountain storms knock it out, which happens regularly in this corridor. It only runs during an outage, plus a 30-minute test once a week at 1:00 PM.
Is it quiet? +
Very. The road is quiet, and the nearby houses sit back in the woods where you won't notice them.
Can we get there in winter weather? +
Yes. There's no hard mountain driving to reach the house, the roads are kept up, and the driveway is short and well maintained. You can pull into the garage too.
Can I ask questions during my trip? +
Yes. Tap Ask about the area on any page to chat with the Pisgah Basecamp Assistant, an AI that knows the house, the trails, waterfalls, fishing, food, and road conditions. It can also pass a message to the hosts. It needs a cell or WiFi signal, so ask before you head into the forest.
